The Springboks will be expecting a tough battle in the midfield as well when they face Argentina in Buenos Aires in the Rugby Championship.
The Boks know that the battle at the set piece will be key this weekend, but it will also be a matter of what happens after they establish dominance with the forwards.
The centre, André Esterhuizen, is on the bench this week for his first game back after breaking his hand against Wales in Bloemfontein in July.
Esterhuizen feels that the midfield battle will also be key.
“It is probably the key thing this weekend - getting momentum and front foot ball,” said the big and physical centre.
“They are a very good defensive side. We need to be on it, we need to be as physical as possible. We need to get over the gain line and get momentum and outwork them around the corner.
“They are physical and especially playing them here in Argentina is going to be a tough battle.
“If we are up for it, it should be good.”
Saturday’s Test between Argentina and South Africa at Estadio Libertadores De América kicks off at 21:10.
