Their home game and first URC clash proved to be a success after much effort on Saturday evening. With players such as Eben Etzebeth and Vincent Tshituka on debut and a selection of Springboks in the line-up, the excitement and expectation ahead of the game was evident. However, the first half proved to be intense with the Sharks walking off with a 13-7 lead and in need of a better second half. 

Their second half saw much improvement with a fight to a final victorious score, along with a bonus point, of 40-12. This win against the Glasgow Warriors also put them fourth on the log. 

This URC clash not only saw the team victorious but also an excellent debut for Springbok lock, Eben Etzebeth securing Man of the Match. 

The Sharks Coach, Sean Everrit stated the following in regard to Etzebeth’s debut: 

“Obviously, his all-round play was much to be admired. What a great start for him and like I said, he is one of the best players in the world, if not the best lock in the world, and he certainly played like that tonight and deserved Man of the Match.”

The Sharks brought out the big guns and played a big game this weekend securing South Africa’s first win of the URC tournament.

On Saturday, the 22nd of October, they will be in action against Ulster at the Kings Park Stadium in Durban.
