Cheetahs confident heading into first 'home game'─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Mon, 12 Dec 2022
The Toyota Cheetahs are confident heading into their first ‘home game’ of the European Challenge Cup when they tackle the Scarlets this week in Parma, Italy.
On Saturday, the Cheetahs claimed an historic win by beating Section Paloise 21-16 in Pau, marking the first win by a South African team in the competition.
Earlier in the day, the Lions played to a 31-31 draw against the Dragons.
The Cheetahs' 8th man, Friedle Olivier, who earned a second straight man of the match accolade, told OFM Sport that it was a big win for them.
"It was a very tough and hard-fought win in which the boys dug deep," said the big ball-carrier.
"Everybody worked very hard to get the win and we are glad that we were able to pull it through. With it being our first game back in Europe, it was even more special.
"We are on the right track and we do have a lot of confidence from the win, although there is still a lot of work to do and build on.
"The positive thing is that we are off to a winning start and from here on we can just get better and better."
Saturday’s match between the Cheetahs and Scarlets at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi kicks off at 17:15.
