Ixias only focused on the Oranje Army─── MORGAN PIEK 12:59 Mon, 13 Mar 2023
The Central University of Technology Ixias will want to avoid being complacent when they face the Orange Army in Johannesburg on Monday in round four of the Varsity Cup.
The Ixias will enter the game full of confidence following back-to-back wins over Maties and the defending champions Tuks over the past two weeks.
The UJ in their turn will also be confident after they beat the UCT Ikeys 43-24 at home last week.
The Ixias coach, Melusi Mthethwa, told OFM Sport that it’s important to respect their dangerous opponents.
“Last week was very important to the boys and the university, but it is done now,” said Mthethwa.
“I think we've managed very well in terms of shifting the focus to this week's game.
“UJ is very dangerous like you said and they play some good rugby and we respect that.
“It was important that we do our homework and how to counter them.
“That said, the boys are looking forward to it and we know that it's going to be another massive one.”
This game in Johannesburg kicks off at 17:00. Meanwhile, at 19:00 the Ikeys tackle the Shimlas in Cape Town.
