“There hasn't been a final call just yet on him. I think they're going to make the call on Tuesday, but he is at least in better spirits.”

The Proteas will make a late call on the availability of Temba Bavuma ahead of Tuesday’s ICC Cricket World Cup game against Bangladesh on in Mumbai.

The national captain was a late withdrawal from the team ahead of Saturday’s outstanding 229-run against England that was also played in Mumbai.

Bavuma was forced to withdraw from the game shortly before the toss and the batter Aiden Markram took over the leadership role.

Speaking on Bavuma’s availability, Markram, said the skipper is making progress and a late call will be made on his fitness.

“Temba is definitely improving,” said Markram.

“There hasn't been a final call just yet on him. I think they're going to make the call on Tuesday, but he is at least in better spirits.”

While the Proteas are in good form at the World Cup, the Tigers have proven to be a tricky side for South Africa to deal with in past World Cups.

Markram added that they are ready for the challenge and they do consider it to be a big game.

“When you play Bangladesh, it's obviously a massive game for us.

“We haven't done particularly well against them in the past, so that's extra motivation for us to come out and replicate what was a good performance against England, but more from an intensity level and a standards level.

“That's something that we're going to try to focus on and trust that if we take care of those sorts of things, hopefully it's enough for us on the day.”

Tuesday’s game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is scheduled to start at 10:30.
