The loosehead prop, Cameron Dawson, is officially back at the Toyota Cheetahs following a stint at the Pumas.

Dawson left the Cheetahs at the conclusion of the 2022 season and spent a year up in Nelspruit where he played in eight games for the Currie Cup runners-up.

He is now back in Bloemfontein and in the warm-up game against the Griffons close to two weeks ago he also scored a try.

On Monday the Pumas officially confirmed that Dawson is one of 12 players from their previous seasons group that has moved on.

The centre Ali Mgijima also recently returned to the Cheetahs after three seasons at the Pumas.

The Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, told OFM Sport that Dawson’s return has given them nice depth in the loosehead department.

“Cameron Dawson is contracted to the Cheetahs again, so is he back and training with us, said Fourie.

“He has been training with the group for the past three weeks and it's good to have Cammy back.

“Especially with Banele Mthenjane still injured. We've got Cameron, Schalk Ferreira and Alulutho Tshakweni on the loosehead side.

“All three can play at a high level, so it's great for us to have him back in our fold.”

The Cheetahs will head to Italy next week for their EPCR Challenge Cup opening round clash against Zebre.
