Blitzboks, Defending Champions book quarter-final spot at the Dubai Sevens─── KAYLA BARKER 07:32 Sun, 03 Dec 2023

After two successful pool games, the Blitzboks managed to claim another win in their last pool game of the day against New Zealand. A narrow 21-19 sees them through to the playoffs today keeping their title defence campaign alive.
Having been 19-7 down at half-time, the Blitzboks had to fight hard in the second half to claim victory over the Kiwis but they managed to do just that, scoring 2 tries followed by conversions to close the gap.
Quewin Nortje and Justin Geduld put points on the board in the first half while Ronald Brown and Masande Mtshali rounded off the second half. WIth both sides putting 3 tries on the board, the difference lies in the Kiwi’s one missed conversion.
Beating Samoa 22-14 and Canada 35-14 in their opening games, their win against New Zealand puts them in the top spot in Pool A.
They will now face Australia in their quarterfinal this morning at 8.58am as they look to secure the win and defend their title.
