Crowd support a big factor for the Stormers─── 07:19 Wed, 10 Jan 2024
The Stormers will once again hope for big crowd support as they play the Sale Sharks in their final home game in the pool stage of the Champions Cup on Saturday.
The Stormers are currently in fourth place in Pool 4 – the so-called Pool of Death – but a win over the Sale Sharks at Cape Town stadium will make them sit a little bit more comfortably.
Stormers forwards coach Rito Hlungwani said it’s always nice playing at home.
“We’ve had some very good support over the last couple of games – La Rochelle, Bulls, Sharks – we really appreciated the faithful coming out to support us,” he said.
This will be the Stormers’ last home game for the next two months.
For forward Hacjivah Dayimani, playing in front of a packed home crowd lifts every player’s game.
“It makes a massive difference, especially when you get those mini-breaks and you see the crowd cheering for you. It keeps you going,” he said.
Interacting with the fans after the game is always exciting for him as a player.
“When I was young, it was something I looked forward to. So engaging with the youngsters is something I look forward to every weekend.”
Saturday’s match at the Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 7:30 PM.
