“I am thankful to the Cheetahs, I have coached there for 13 years, nine of which was with Naka Drotské and four as the head coach.”

The Toyota Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, is officially leaving the union to make a return to where it all started for him, the Boland Cavaliers.

The Currie Cup winning coach has tendered his resignation at the union where he had spent a total of 13 year as an assistant coach and in recent times as the head coach.

Fourie said it is special for him to return to when he served as both a player and as a coach.

“It is special to come back to the very union where it all started for me, as a coach.

“There is no reason why we cannot get back in the top six teams in the country, and that will be my aim when I get back in Wellington.”

Fourie added that he is grateful for his time at the Cheetahs where he won the Currie Cup as an assistant and last year as the head coach.

“I am thankful to the Cheetahs, I have coached there for 13 years, nine of which was with Naka Drotské and four as the head coach.”

It is expected that Izak van der Westhuizen will be taking over as the head coach of the Cheetahs as they prepare for the SA Cup and upcoming EPCR Challenge Cup round of 16 game against Clermont.

The Cheetahs and Boland Cavaliers will battle in out in Bloemfontein on 23 March in round one of the inaugural SA Cup.
