The former Springboks and England assistant coach, Matthew Proudfoot, has been appointed as the new Leopards head coach.

The Leopards entered a new era ahead of the upcoming SA Cup following the appointment of a new head coach.

The Potchefstroom-based union has successfully managed to secure the services of the former Springbok and England assistant coach, Proudfoot.

Proudfoot hails from Potchefstroom region and played in over 50 games for the Leopards, while he also represented Scotland at international level.

He has also previously been the forwards coach of the North West University, Western Province, Stormers and Namibia.

Proudfoot takes over from the former Griffons and Free State flyhalf, Eric Herbert, who was in the role following the departure of André Pretorius.

The Leopards will kick-off their SA Cup campaign at 15:00 on 21 March against the Griquas in Kimberley.
