The Springbok winger, Sbu Nkosi, will be making his Toyota Cheetahs debut on Saturday when they tackle the Griquas in Jacobsdal in a SA Cup warm-up match.

Nkosi has been named on the right-wing for the game and it will be his first outing since joining the team on an initial one-year contract.

A team made up of mostly fringe players has been named, but there is a experience as well. The big guns such as Ruan Pienaar will be rested for the game.

Abner van Reenen will play at flyhalf, while he will receive service from Rewan Kruger who will play at scrumhalf.

The seasoned Oupa Mohoje will start on the flank, while Andisa Ntsila will start at 8th-man.

Friedle Olivier, who normally plays as a loose forward will start in the number four lock position.

The Namibian international hooker, Chucky van der Westhuizen, will captain the team, while Ali Mgijima is the vice-captain.

The Cheetahs Director of Rugby, Frans Steyn, told OFM Sport that it’s important for the players in the squad to get a fair chance to play.

“There are guys that have played in a very long time, some have had just two games in two years,” said Steyn.

“We need to see what they can do as well.

“It's easy to say to a player that you are not a part of our plans, but you haven't given him a proper crack.

“So, it's important for us to see what guys can do.”

Saturday’s match at Landboudal kicks off at 15:00.
