The Suzuki Griquas remain unbeaten in the SA Cup following a resounding 48-30 win against the Boland Cavaliers in Wellington.

Jaco Uys, Stephan Smith, Thomas Bursey all scored tries for the visitors in the first half as they took a 22-9 lead into the half time break.

The Cavaliers points in the first half all came off the boot of the flyhalf Gareth April who landed three penalties.

One minute into the second stanza the 8th-man Carl Els went in for the first of his two tries.

Minutes later, the centre Xavier Mitchell went over for the Cavaliers first try.

The former Boland player, Cameron Hufke, got in on the action for the Griquas to stretch the lead to 20-points.

While the game opened up a lot in the last 20 minutes of the contest, the Griquas still proved to be too strong as Carl Els completed his brace, while the former captain, Niel Otto, also dotted down.

A try by Bentley Geldenhuys and a score on the stroke of full time by Cornell Engelbrecht was not enough for Hawies Fourie’s team to claim a third win of the competition.

Scorers:

Boland Cavaliers: Tries - Xavier Mitchell, Bentley Geldenhuys, Cornell Engelbrecht Conv. – Gareth April 3 Pen - April 3

Griquas: Tries – Janco Uys, Stephan Smith, Thomas Bursey, Carl Els 2, Cameron Hufke, Niel Otto Conv. – Lubabalo Dobela 4, George Whitehead Pen. – Dobela
