“He's not a big prop, so he has to be very technically skilled at scrum time, which he is. As you say, he is probably one of the more talented tighthead props I've seen when it comes to ball carries, so I'm very delighted to have him in our 23.”

The Leopards have made one change to their starting XV for Saturday’s SA Cup round six game against the Pumas in Nelspruit.

Azola Mati comes back into the second-row in the place of Wihan Nel, with the latter rotating to the bench.

In addition, the coach, Matt Proudfoot, has named the NWU Eagles prop, Herman Agenbag, on the bench for the game. The replacement hooker, Chyle van Zyl, also comes into the squad from the Eagles.

Proudfoot told OFM Sport that the former Grey College front-rower has a lot of potential.

“I had the privilege of coaching him when I was in Namibia,” said Proudfoot.

“We were trying to get him qualified because he has Namibia heritage through his father and grandfather who lived there.

“We were trying to get him qualified for the World Cup and I was impressed with him. I was really, really impressed with him.

“He's not a big prop, so he has to be very technically skilled at scrum time, which he is. As you say, he is probably one of the more talented tighthead props I've seen when it comes to ball carries, so I'm very delighted to have him in our 23.”

The Canadian international scrumhalf, Ross Braude, who will start for the Pumas was at school with Agenbag, and they played together with the likes of Jan-Hendrik Wessels and WJ Steenkamp of the Bulls.

Saturday’s game between the Pumas and Leopards at the Nelspruit Rugby Club kicks off at 15:00. At the same time, Eastern Province will tackle the Griquas in Kariega.
