Griquas still unbeaten in SA Cup─── ILSE SMALBERGER 08:33 Sat, 27 Apr 2024
Griquas still tops the SA Cup table after a convincing 50 – 0 win over Eastern Province yesterday. The team from Kimberley has won all six of their matches so far and sits comfortably in top spot with 30 points.
In yesterday’s match, first-half tries were scored by young lock Albert Liebenberg, Boland-born Connor Mahoney, and flankers Niel Otto and Marco de Witt with De Witt scoring an excellent hat-trick. George Whitehead succeeded with four conversions and Griquas headed into the shed at half-time up by 38 points to nil.
In the second half, it was more of the same with Griquas scoring two more tries; one by Bobby Alexander, converted by Whitehead and another by Dylan Maart to secure another bonus point win.
In today’s SA Cup action, the Cheetahs, who are in fourth place on the table, will take on the SWD Eagles in George, while second-place Pumas will host the Leopards and the Boland Kavaliers will face the Border Bulldogs in Wellington.
