The Toyota Cheetahs recorded their biggest win in the SA Cup on Saturday with a convincing 68-17 drubbing of the Valke at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park.

The Toyota Cheetahs recorded their biggest win in the SA Cup on Saturday with a convincing 68-17 drubbing of the Valke at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park.

The Cheetahs scored ten tries in the high-tempo game on the East Rand, while Andell Loubser, was successful with no less than nine of the ten conversions from all corners of the park.

The Cheetahs held at comfortable 28-7 lead at the half time after Sibabalo Qoma, Marnus van der Merwe, Mzwanele Zito and S’bu Nkosi all when in for tries.

In the second stanza, the Cheetahs fullback, Tapiwa Mafura, scored immediately after the restart to carry on where the left off in the first forty minute period.

With twenty minutes to go the Cheetahs shifted into a high gear with the centre Munier Hartzenberg and the replacement wingers Rethabile Mzamo each crossing the whitewash for a brace of tries, while the flanker, Gideon van der Merwe, also got in on the action.

Next week the Cheetahs will travel to East London where they will tackle the winless Border Bulldogs.

In the weekend’s other games – the Suzuki Griquas beat the Pumas 31-26 in Kimberley, the Boland Cavaliers beat the Leopards 59-26 in Leeudoringstad, the Griffons beat the SWD Eagles 36-28 in George, while Eastern Province secure their first win with a 38-17 victory against the Bulldogs.
