The Stormers are out of the United Rugby Championship. The team from the Cape suffered a 27 – 10 defeat at the hands of the Glasgow Warriors on Saturday at Scotstoun.

The Warriors have been unbeaten at home all season and it was always going to be a tough contest, despite the Stormers enjoying four straight victories to end the regular season.

Glasgow drew first blood with two George Horne penalties which gave them a 6 – 0 lead at the break.  Manie Libbok had two chances to put points on the board for the Stormers but missed both penalty attempts kicking against the wind.

The second half did not start well for the Stormers either, with captain Salmaan Moerat getting a yellow card for a dangerous cleanout.  But then winger Ben Loader scored in the corner and things started to look up for the visitors.

The hosts hit back with the try courtesy of Sebastian Cancellier almost immediately, with Horne not having the same struggles with the weather as Libbok. A try by scrum-half Paul de Wet in the 66th minute could once again not be converted by Libbok

Tries for the Warriors in the final five minutes by substitutes Henco Venter and Ross Thompson, plus conversion kicks from Horne sticking, gave the hosts the win.

They will now face defending champions Munster in Limerick next Saturday.
