“We would like to extend our gratitude to the Bulls for allowing him to join us at short notice, especially at such an important point of their URC season.”

The Bulls loose-forward, Celimpilo Gumede, has been called up to the Springbok training squad in Pretoria.

The player who has previously played for the Toyota Cheetahs has been called in as cover for the two-time Rugby World Cup winner, Cheslin Kolbe.

The latter has been sent for medical tests after arriving from this Tokyo Sungoliath with a niggle.

Gumede is currently the only Bulls player in camp as the rest are busy preparing for their URC semi-final against Leinster on Saturday.

The Springbok coach, Erasmus, believes that Gumede has impressed throughout the season and has what it takes to make the step up to the next level.

“Celimpilo has been playing impressive rugby this season and we are excited to see how he integrates in the squad and what he has to offer at training,” said Springbok the Springbok coach Erasmus.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the Bulls for allowing him to join us at short notice, especially at such an important point of their URC season.”

The Boks themselves assembled on Monday to begin preparations for the upcoming Test against Wales in London.

This Test at Twickenham will be played on 22 June.
