“I think the defense we showed after we had sort of won the game with 30 points up, that grit, determination, and relentlessness in kind of getting off the line to defend our flag is everything the Springboks stand for.”

The Springboks will draw a lot of confidence from their performance on the weekend as they prepare for Saturday’s Test against the Wallabies in Perth. The two sides will go at it again in round two of the Rugby Championship and following the 33-7 win the Boks will be targeting a clean sweep Down Under.

While there are work-ons, the Boks set the benchmark in the Championship, albeit they are yet to face Argentina and the All Blacks.

The 22-year-old Bok flyhalf, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who excelled in his first starting role, said they have a lot to be excited about after their performance.

“There was obviously a bit of talk around the curse of Suncorp, but to have a good training week and then execute when it comes to the game and put points on was our goal,” said Feinberg-Mngomezulu.

“So, I’m glad we achieved that this week, and next week we go again. I think that defense we showed after we had sort of won the game with 30 points up, that grit, determination, and relentlessness in kind of getting off the line to defend our flag is everything the Springboks stand for.

“So, pull that off, away from home, and defend our flag – the boys are happy.”

Saturday’s Test between the Wallabies and Springboks in Perth kicks off at 11:45.
