Bulls thrash Dragons in Wales─── ILSE SMALBERGER 10:59 Sat, 18 Apr 2026
The Bulls made light work of their United Rugby Championship (URC) match against the Dragons at Rodney Parade, Newport with a 47-7 victory over the Welsh side on Friday.
The men from Pretoria scored seven tries and led 12-7 at half-time, thanks to tries by scrum-half Embrose Papier and hooker Johan Grobbelaar. Dragons centre, the Tongan Fine Inise, scored for the home side in the first half, but the Dragons were clearly out of their depth, despite a five-game unbeaten run on home soil.
The second half was a nightmare for the home side. The Bulls came out swinging and Man of the Match, captain Marcell Coetzee, scored the first try of the second half. Substitute Marco van Staden then scored twice for the visitors, taking the game well and truly away from the Dragons.
The Bulls backline then joined the party with Devon Williams and Sergeal Petersen both scoring tries in the final three minutes.

Thanks to the victory, Johan Ackermann’s men have moved from eighth to fifth, above Munster, Cardiff and the Lions, who will all be in action on Saturday (18/4).
The Bulls tackle the 14th-placed Scarlets in Llanelli next Saturday before finishing their regular-season campaign with matches against Italian clubs Zebre and Benetton in Pretoria.
