The Bloemfontein Celtic striker, Tshegofatso Mabasa, will not be playing for the Premier Soccer League club anymore after accepting an offer to play for Orlando Pirates.

The clubs top scorer last season is already in Johannesburg and will undergo medicals on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old received an offer to play for the Portuguese outfit, Vitória F.C. in Setúbal, as well, however, opted he to join the Buccaneers.

A source close to OFM Sport confirmed that the contract offer from both clubs was very similar, with the Portuguese move being slightly more lucrative.

Mabasa, who has previously played for Bafana Bafana, will, however, stand a better chance of catching the attention of the national coach, Stuart Baxter, while plying his trade in Mayfair.

The Grey College old boy told OFM Sport that he will be signing with the Soweto giants, but it’s just a matter of crossing the t’s and dotting the I’s.

“Yes, the transfer is as good as done.

“We just need to finalise the figures and once that is done I will sign.

“I’m already in Johannesburg, and we will start with the medical tests on Wednesday."

The Celtic defender, Bongani Sam, is also expected to sign with the Sea Robbers after being released by Phunya Sele Sele.

Five rounds into the 2018/19 season, Celtic released the rock-solid defender, Alfred Ndengane, to join the Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, the former captain and goalkeeper, Patrick Tignyemb, is in Port Elizabeth where he will be signing with Clinton Larsen’s Chippa United.
