The action returns on Wednesday evening when Aston Villa host Sheffield United at Villa Park, with this game kicking off at 19:00. At 21:15 the defending champions Manchester City will host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

On Sunday it will perhaps be the biggest game of the week with the Merseyside derby between the league leaders, Liverpool and Everton, at Anfield.

A couple of days ago the Reds thumped Blackburn Rovers 6-0 in a warm-up game and coach, Jurgen Klopp says that he is happy with his teams’ football.

“It was not only a workout for us, it was a really important test and we wanted the players to go for 45 minutes, but because of a few little issues we couldn’t do that, so we didn’t have enough first-team players, I would say, so that’s why we decided to let three players go for 60 minutes.

“It looked really good, pretty much from the beginning. Yes, we’ll have to get used to playing against a deep-defending side again and stuff like that.

“Blackburn had a playing build-up from time-to-time, so we could work on the high press as well.

“The counter-press was brilliant, the football was really good, the goals were nice and it was a really good afternoon.

“I am really thankful that Blackburn came here and we could do that, so I wish them all the best.”

This game in the North West of England kicks off at 20:00 on Sunday evening.
