The former Bloemfontein Celtic captain and Malawian international midfielder, John Maduka, is set to take over as the head coach of the Free State-based Premier Soccer League team.

This follows the resignation of Lehlohonolo Seema on Monday morning. Seema, who himself captained Celtic resigned at the club in order to take up the role of head coach at Chippa United in Port Elizabeth.

Seema has been at the helm of Celtic since the shock departure of Steve Komphela in December 2018.

Seema was appointed as the interim coach of Phunya Sele Sele along with Maduka, who himself has also previously served as the team manager.

Celtic confirmed the news of Seema’s exit in the morning, and in the afternoon revealed that Maduka would indeed take over as the coach.

“Bloemfontein Celtic confirms the appointment of John Maduka as the head coach of the club, and we have promoted Abram “Wire” Nteo as the new assistant coach, with Simon Gopane still as the goalkeeper coach.

“They will work hand-in-hand with John Maduka.

“They've all got a good working relationship, as they played together at the club.

“Nteo was the MDC head coach and they have previously promoted players from the MDC to the senior team.”
