Spurs move back up to 8th─── MORGAN PIEK 08:38 Tue, 07 Jul 2020
A mid-table clash in the English Premiership saw Everton travel to Tottenham Hotspur, on Monday night where three points for either team would see them break into the top 10.
After 90 minutes on the pitch, it was an Everton own goal, through Michael Keane, which handed Spurs the 1-0 win.
That being, Spurs coach, José Mourinho says that his team was always in control of the game.
“The performance was very solid,” said Mourinho.
“I don’t know if you had the same feeling on the bench, but I felt that the game was under control.
“I never felt that the game was not under control, and even in the moments that where they had the ball, I think we felt very comfortable defensively.”
Speaking about the bust-up between his two players, Heung-Min Son and Hugo Lloris, Mourinho says if anyone is to blame for it, it should be him.
“If you want to blame somebody for that, it's me. I was critical of my boys because they are not in my opinion critical enough of themselves.”
The win places Spurs in 8th place, one point behind Arsenal, and more importantly back into European contention.
Speaking of Arsenal, they’re in action on Tuesday night when they play host to Leicester City. This match at the Emirates Stadium kicks off at 21:15.
Before that, at 19:00, Watford will entertain Norwich City at the bottom-of-the-table, while Crystal Palace will host Chelsea at Selhurst Park.
