The stay in the English Premiership is over for the bottom-of-the-log Norwich City, as they were relegated over the week, while the multiple champions, Manchester United will have their sights set on third.

Watford did their fight against relegation a world of favours when they beat Newcastle 2-1, while West Ham sealed the Canaries' fate with a 4-0 thrashing, to leave them relegated from the English Premiership.

Burnley earned themselves one point with a draw against new champions, Liverpool. This was the first time this season that the Reds dropped points at Anfield.

Sheffield United put up a footballing displaying to write home about, beating Chelsea 3-0, with Manchester City wrapping up the Saturday with a 5-0 drubbing of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Following their relegation on Saturday, Canaries captain, Alexander Tettey apologised to the fans of the team.

“We just have to say sorry. We tried and we were not good enough. We’re very sorry for our fans because I know the Norwich fans are always behind the team regardless. It’s a tough day today, but from tomorrow we will look forward to getting better and trying to bounce back.

“It’s a shame we didn’t have our fans with us in the last seven games because I personally feel like they could have given us that extra boost, that sense of it being important and them being behind you.

“The mindset coming into this game was positive but, once again, if we give away goals and are not strong enough when it comes to set-pieces, we get punished.

“From my point of view, we’ve been doing that a lot since the restart - staying in games and then conceding from a set-piece. The whole game changes and it becomes very difficult for us.

“I feel like we’re trying to play football, but they are more experienced and know what they’re doing. They took their chances from set-pieces and punished us when we made mistakes.

“It doesn’t matter who you play, if the quality of those you play is good enough they will punish your mistakes.

“We’ve had one centre half-fit for most of the season, so it’s not like the manager has had a choice to mix it up.

“We’ve tried, but in the end, you have to put your hands up and say we weren’t good enough. We have to accept it and keep working further.”

On Sunday, the Wolverhampton Wanderers climbed into the top 6 with a 3-0 win over Everton, Aston Villa claimed a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, while Tottenham Hotspur claimed bragging rights in North London derby by beating Arsenal 2-1. Bournemouth also continued to show some fight in the relegation zone by hammering a 10-man Leicester City 4-1.

On Monday night, the Red Devils have a chance to leapfrog into third place when they host Southampton at Old Trafford, with kick-off at 21:00.
