A nervy Chelsea were nodded into a one-nil lead through an Olivier Giroud header.

The Frenchman’s goal would be the only one that separated the two teams with Chelsea winning 1-0.

Blues manager, Frank Lampard, was happy with the win but reiterated that it still stays a matter of one game at a time.

“I keep talking about mentality but I don't like the word bottle too much.

“When you're coming up against Liverpool away and Wolves at home, it's just two really good opponents, so we've just got to focus on those games one by one.

“We've got to prepare properly and show the right attitude, and I think we did that tonight. Those two games will look completely different from tonight.

"So rather than talk about the bottle I want to talk about focus and attitude, and then hopefully we have enough to get through but it's going to be tough."

The action continues on Wednesday night with four matches.

At 19: 00, Newcastle United host Tottenham Hotspur who are looking to close in on the top four, Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to Burnley and Manchester City host Bournemouth.

The Final kick-off tonight will see Arsenal, who are fighting to stay in contention for European competition, host new champions, Liverpool at 21: 15.
