Arsenal ended Liverpool’s bid to set a new Premier League record of breaching the hundred point mark. To set the record, Liverpool needed to win all of their remaining fixtures but succumbed to Arsenal on Wednesday night, losing 2-1.

Gunners manager, Mikel Arteta, praised his charges after taking down the champions, who were very sloppy, especially in the first half.

"No, I am really pleased. We talked a lot about the defence of the two teams and we need to grow in line with them to get the points.

"I am really pleased because they can do it. Sometimes your focus is that keeping the right spirit and attention against this level of opposition, and I am delighted."

Other results from last night saw Tottenham take themselves to within 4 points of the top four when they beat Newcastle 3-1.

Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers played to a one-all draw and Manchester City beat Bournemouth 2-1.

The action continues on Thursday night as the battle for fourth place heats up between Leicester City and Manchester United, who will both be in action tonight.

Leicester will host Sheffield United at 19:00, while the Red Devils will travel to Crystal Palace at 21:15.

Both Leicester and United are on 59 points, with only 3 goals separating the two sides.
