The four teams competing in the 2020 Nedbank Cup semi-finals have all arrived at the bio-safe bubble where the matches will be played on Saturday.

After the sport went into lockdown in March, Saturday’s games at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto will be the first football matches to be played in South Africa.

Premier Soccer League chairman, Irvin Khoza, thanked South Africa’s loyal football supporters for their patience.

“We do everything we do for our supporters.  The beautiful game is about the supporters.

“The exciting part about the resumption of play is that the supporters will reclaim their space. The conversations will regain their flow.

“I know that you missed PSL football, please note, that football missed you.”

Khoza further added that the 2020/21 domestic football season will be starting as soon as Tuesday, 9 October.

“The registration window for the PSL, as agreed by the executive committee, will be 2nd of September to the 17th of October; that is the first window.

“The second window will be the 1st of February 2021 to the 1st of March 2021.

“The start of the season is presumed to be the 9th of October; the commencement of the new PSL season.”

Saturday afternoon at 14:00 Baroka FC face Bloemfontein Celtic, and at 19:00 Mamelodi Sundowns take on Wits.
