We have to earn the treble─── MORGAN PIEK 08:42 Fri, 11 Sep 2020
Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane, believes that if history is anything to go by, Bloemfontein Celtic will be the favourites to win Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final.
The previous time these two clubs met in a Cup final was in 2012, when Celtic won the Telkom Knockout with a 1-0 victory at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
This past season, Downs, were the victors in the three previous occasions these teams met.
Downs are in-line for a treble if they manage to beat the team from the City of Roses, but Mosimane warns that they still need to play and win the match before that can even think of the distinction.
“The ‘Treble’ is not there until we win the match.
“The worst thing is to think you have won the ‘Treble’ without playing it.
“You have to earn it, and history against Celtic in the cup is not good for us.
“If you look at it, you can say they need it more than us in terms of what has been happening lately, but football does not go like that.”
Saturday’s final at the Orlando Stadium kicks off at 20:00.
