Solid wins for Wolves and Chelsea─── MORGAN PIEK 08:46 Tue, 15 Sep 2020
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea both kicked off their 2020/21 English Premiership campaign on a high note with away wins on Monday night.
The action started at Bramhall Lane with Wolvers starting their season in emphatic style with a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Raúl Jiménez and Romain Saïss netted for Wolves within the first 6 minutes of the season.
Chelsea then travelled to Brighton & Hove Albion where three goals helped them collect a full house of points.
The Blues led from the 23rd minute through a Jorginho penalty, but Brighton levelled matters in the 60th minute before Reece James and Kurt Zouma found the back of the net to hand the Frank Lampard’s charges a 3-1 victory.
Following the match, Lampard said he is pleased with the result.
“We've had a lot of quarantines at the club, we've had players come out of international duty and not being fully fit.
“We're not fully fit, a lot of the players are not fully fit at the moment. That is just the way it is.
“I thought that they dealt with the rigors of the game very well. In terms of how tough it is to come to Brighton and to get a result.”
The Premiership resumes on Saturday with Everton at home to West Bromwich Albion, Leeds take on Fulham, Manchester United host Crystal Palace, and Arsenal entertain West Ham United.
The pick of Sunday's match will see Chelsea at home to the champions, Liverpool.
