The focus in domestic football shifts from league to cup action with the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals taking place this weekend.

First up with be a Soweto derby with Orlando Pirates hosting Kaizer Chiefs at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

The match will be just the fourth in charge for the new Chiefs coach, Gavin Hunt, who has the difficult task of rebuilding teams' confidence after they lost the 2019/20 Premier Soccer League title on the last day of the season.

New Chiefs coach, Gavin Hunt, told OFM Sport that the semi-finals are always the hardest games in cup competitions and a good display on the pitch will help with the confidence.

“In football, supporters, media and staff have got better memories than players. Players don't have to remember, they forget very quickly.

“It's the other people around the game who remember things more. You only remember things where you get a little bit older.

“In these competitions, semi-finals are hard and you have to get yourself through it.

“The hardest part of any cup competition is the semi-final. Finals are much easier, semis are very difficult, especially when you're playing against arch-rivals like Pirates.

“The game is right on top of us and I don’t think it’s going to knock your confidence. You need to work on certain things in the game which can help your confidence.”

This game kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday at 15:00, SuperSport United, host Bloemfontein Celtic at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
