Celtic striker, Letsoalo, steers Bafana to victory─── MORGAN PIEK 09:16 Wed, 14 Jul 2021
The Bloemfontein Celtic striker, Victor Letsoalo, enjoyed a dream debut on Tuesday evening as he helped steer Bafana Bafana to a 4-0 win over neighbours, Lesotho, in the Cosafa Cup in Gqeberha.
Letsoalo became the first Bafana player to score a hat-trick of goals while on debut for the national side.
The Phunya Sele Sele marksman opened the scoring in the 5th minute at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, before completing his brace just before half-time
Letsoalo recorded his hat-trick in the 57th minute. Njabulo Ngcobo scored Bafana's other goal.
The Bafana assistant coach, Vela Khumalo, said that Letsoalo and the team’s performance bring hope during a very difficult time in the country’s history.
“When you talk of Victor, he and the whole team is bringing hope after what is happening in the country at the moment with the looting that is going on and the Covid-19 pandemic which is with us.
“We hope that this Bafana Bafana victory, even though we are not at the final yet, will bring a smile and light at the end of the tunnel.
“The future is looking good and we hope that everything will be better after we win this as Bafana Bafana.”
Bafana face Zambia on Wednesday afternoon at 15:00 in their final Group A fixture.
