The South African Football Association is gearing up to receive fans back on Tuesday next week when Bafana Bafana lock-horns with Ethiopia in the return-leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
It is pretty much a done deal that limited and vaccinated fans will be allowed to attendant a sporting event in South Africa for the first time in more than 18 months.
SAFA President Danny Jordaan indicated that they made a proposal for unvaccinated fans as well.
“We had a great meeting with the Department of Health who will on Thursday guide the way in how we will achieve this, and do it in a manner that we all still remain safe.
“It will be marvel to see fans back in the stands.
“We said that in the case where there is a person that is not vaccinated - that person similar to when you get on an aircraft, must have a negative test which is valid.
“There must be checks and balances. So, if a person has some difficulty when vaccination, they must produce a negative test.”
The government is set to outline the rules and regulations on Thursday.
Ethiopia and Bafana battle it out Bahir Dar at 15:00 on Saturday afternoon before Tuesday's return leg at the FNB Stadium.
