The focus will 100 percent be on Zimbabwe - Broos─── MORGAN PIEK 08:48 Thu, 11 Nov 2021
The Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, has emphasised the importance of starting strong on Thursday evening in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in Johannesburg.
The last time Bafana and the Warriors met they played to a goalless draw in Harare.
South Africa will have the luxury of knowing the result of the other Group G game between Ethiopia and Ghana before they play.
Broos said it’s important for the focus to be just on Zimbabwe and that his team needs little motivation.
“I'm very sure that the focus will 100 percent be on Zimbabwe and they will go for it until the 90th minute.
“Then we'll have just one game until the next round. That doesn't mean we'll be in Qatar, but we will definitely be in the next round.
“I don't think there can be more motivation for a player than qualifying for a World Cup, so not hard for me to keep the players focused.
“The players are ambitious and they know that if we succeed, they'll be at the World Cup and everyone will be there watching them.”
This evening’s qualifier between South Africa and Zimbabwe at Soccer City gets underway at 21:00.
