Big news in the Premier Soccer League is that of the Chippa United's latest appointment. The Chilli Boys have appointed the former Bloemfontein Celtic CEO, Khumbulani Konco, as the clubs new Chief Operations Officer.

Nearly a year ago Konco was unexpected retrenched by Celtic following a section 189 process, which came after he served a suspension following a verbal spat with the club’s chairman, Max Tshabalala.

Following the exit of Konco, the clubs PSL rights sold to Royal AM.

Chippa United confirmed the news of Konco’s appointment.

“Chippa United are proud to announce the appointment of former Bloemfontein Celtic FC CEO Khumbulani Konco. Khumbulani has been appointed to fill the role of club Chief Operations Officer [C.O.O] following the position being left vacant by the promotion of club Executive Director, Mr Lukanyo Mzinzi in January 2022.

“Khumbulani requires no introduction within the football fraternity, being a veteran of over 20 years with Bloemfontein Celtic FC where he rose through the ranks from player to C.E.O and furthermore established himself by later serving on the Executive Committee of the Premier Soccer League as its youngest member at the time.

“The chairman of Chippa United FC expresses his best wishes for Khumbulani in this critical position and his desire is for the sterling that he has displayed in the management of the first team’s affairs, development of young talent and brand promotion over the years to continue under his tenure with the Chilli Boys.”
