It's one day at a time - Ellis─── MORGAN PIEK 15:00 Mon, 18 Jul 2022
Banyana Banyana will be targeting a clinical performance on Monday evening when they face Zambia in the semi-finals of Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Banyana are still unbeaten at the continental tournament, however, since beating the defending champions, Nigeria, in their opening game, they haven't been as clinical as they would like.
The Copper Queens have impressed with a draw against Cameroon and wins over Tunisia, Togo and Senegal.
The Banyana coach, Desiree Ellis said the focus is solely on tonight’s game.
“Our second objective is to win the Africa Cup of Nations - but it is one game at a time for us.
“If you look too far ahead, you lose focus of the task at hand. The task at hand is to face Zambia. We need to get over that hurdle first before we can think of the next hurdle.
“We are focusing fully on the match to get a positive result. Then we will worry about happens next.
“It's one day at a time and one match at a time.”
Banyana’s first object at the Africa Cup of Nations was to secure qualification to the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. They did this by beating Algeria 1-0 in the quarter-finals last week.
Monday evening’s semi-final in Casablanca kicks off at 19:00. At 22:00, Morocco will take on Nigeria.
