United have last both of their two previous league games this season, with the 15th Liverpool have played to two draws.

The Reds came move up to sixth with a win, while the Red Devils can go as high a 13th with three-points.

The new Manchester manger, Erik ten Hag, believes that he can make difference and the struggling club and turn their fortunes around.

“I am here to help the club and to restore the club,” said Ten Hag ahead of Monday night’s big game.

“I wanted this challenge. I knew before it was going to be hard but I wanted that, because in my career, everywhere I started, the start was difficult but I get it done, and I'm convinced I get it done here as well.

“Therefore, I chose the project and I know it is a process. I will stay consistent to the plan, the philosophy we have. I have confidence in the co-operation I have with the players but also in the team around me, like the coaches and the directors.”

Monday night's North West derby at the Theatre of Dreams kicks off at 21:00.
