Despite a recent injury the Ballon D’Or runner-up, Sadio Mane, was named to Senegal's 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.
The coach, Aliou Cisse, confirmed that the prolific scorer is in his squad for the global showpiece that will be staged in Qatar.
Cisse expressed hope that the Bayern Munich strikers’ condition would improve within a few weeks and declared himself really optimistic that the injury would not necessitate surgery.

“I preferred to keep him in the group,” said the former Birmingham City and Portsmouth midfielder, Cisse.
“Sadio Mané is an important player in our squad, it is important to continue to follow his injury, hoping that in two or three weeks there will be progress. But we are really optimistic.
“We will give ourselves all the necessary means to allow Sadio Mane to recover.”
Senegal was drawn in Group A for the World Cup along with the hosts, Qatar, as well as we Ecuador and the Netherlands.
