The Premier Soccer League club Marumo Gallants will officially be introduced to supporters in Bloemfontein on Tuesday 28 February.

Last week during the Bloemfontein Celtic Supporters Club meeting it was agreed that the club will relocate to the city, while a name change to Marumo Celtic is on the cards.

The club is looking to fill the void left when Celtic’s PSL status was controversially sold to Royal AM at the start of the 2021/22 season.

OFM Sport has documents to verify the events of the meeting held on 16 February at Paradise Hall in Bochabela, as well as a letter confirming that the team will be unveiled to the supporters next week.

Furthermore, the PSL has updated their fixtures confirming that the team who until recently were playing out of the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg will play their first league game in Bloemfontein next week.

Gallants' first home game in Bloemfontein is set for 5 March when they will host TS Galaxy at 15:30 at the Toyota Stadium. It remains to be seen if they will play under the banner of Marumo Celtic and in a new strip.

In recent weeks the NFD (Motshepe Foundation Championship) Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC relocated to the city and they adopted the famous green-and-white colours, proudly worn by Celtic.

During the meeting TTM asked for the buy-in of the supporters, however, the was unanimously rejected. The team played their first home game on Saturday at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium against Casric Stars, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. On Tuesday they lost 3-2 to Cape Town Spurs at the Athlone Stadium.

On the weekend the club’s chairman Lawrence Mulaudzi also stated that they change their name to Bloemfontein Celtic.
