Mac Allister confirmed as a Liverpool player─── MORGAN PIEK 13:54 Thu, 08 Jun 2023
The Merseyside club, Liverpool, have made their first major signing ahead of the 2023/24 season with Alexis Mac Allister signing.
The 24-year-old Argentine international joins the Reds from Brighton & Hove Albion, where the midfielder scored 16 goals in close to 100 games.
The player opted for the famous number ten jersey at the club, while he could also choose from the iconic numbers 7, 8 and 9 as well.
Mac Allister explains why he chose the number made famous by players such as John Barnes, Michael Owen and Sadio Mané.
“I know how important the No. 10 is in football,” said the new midfielder.
“I had the possibility to take the No. 8 as well, which is a big number for this club, because of Steven Gerrard of course.
“But I decided on No. 10, because I’ve used it a lot of times, in Argentina, at Brighton, under-23s national team as well.
“It’s a number I really like and that’s why I chose it.”
The deal is said to be worth £35 million, but could rise to £55 million.
