Van Dijk remains committed to the Reds─── MORGAN PIEK 08:42 Thu, 01 Feb 2024
“It is not about me, it is not about I, it is about us, nothing has changed. Five days ago we weren't even speaking about my contract, so it's a bit silly.”
The Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk, has rubbished reports that he will also be leaving the club at the end of the season as well.
The Dutch international has been a talisman in the Liverpool defence since joining the club from Southampton back in 2018 and his departure will be a big loss for the Merseyside giants.
Following the coach, Jurgen Klopp’s shock announcement on Friday that he will be leaving at the end of the season, it has been suggested that Van Dijk will also depart.

Van Dijk said he remains fully committed to the team and the mission is to make the season a special one.
“To be 100% clear, I am fully committed to the club,” said Van Dijk.
“I love the club, I love the fans. It is fully taken out of context.
“It is not about me, it is not about I, it is about us, nothing has changed. Five days ago we weren't even speaking about my contract, so it's a bit silly.
“My full focus is on making sure this year is a very special year.
“It was obviously a big announcement the last couple of days, it's been a big shock to each one of us connected to the club.”
Meanwhile, the former Liverpool and Spanish defender Xabi Alonso appears to be the frontrunner to take over as manager from Klopp.
