The Premier Soccer League club, Moroka Swallows and their head coach, Steve Komphela have parted ways.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic coach and Free State Stars captain was at the helm of the Dube Birds for a mere seven months.
On the weekend, Swallows suffered a 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City in the PSL and they are currently 14th on the log.
On Monday evening the club released a brief statement confirming that they and the Kroonstad-born coach have agreed to part ways.
“Moroka Swallows and coach Steve Komphela have agreed to a mutual separation.
“This comes after several discussions between both parties, where it was ultimately agreed that it would be in their best interest for both the club and the coach to separate at this stage.
“There remains a mutual respect between both parties and the separation is one both have welcomed.
“The club wishes coach Steve all the best in his future endeavours, and we are grateful for the contribution he has made to the club.
“Coach Steve has expressed gratitude to the club and has wished us well.”
On Saturday, Swallows will face Platinum City Rovers in the Nedbank Cup round of 32.
