Banyana to build on their depth against Senegal─── MORGAN PIEK 12:48 Fri, 17 May 2024

“We are not only investing in the future of the team but also providing opportunities for all players to grow and to contribute to the success of the team.”
Banyana Banyana will be using their upcoming international friendlies to build on their depth and their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title defence.
Yesterday the coach, Desiree Ellis, named a squad for the away games against Senegal and some of the biggest names weren't selected.
The two matches are a good opportunity to build with FIFA still having to confirm that the 2024 WAFCON will be taking place.
Ellis said it’s important to start developing the next generation of Banyana players.
“We are always looking at the depth and the versatility in our team and we have made some changes to the squad for the fixtures against Senegal,” said Ellis.
“This selection presents an exciting opportunity for us to assess and explore the potential of other players in our core group.
“We are not only investing in the future of the team but also providing opportunities for all players to grow and to contribute to the success of the team.”
The first game between Senegal and Banyana will be played on 31 May.
