The English giants, Liverpool, have confirmed that Arne Slot, will be the clubs new head coach and of 1 June 2024.

This is subject to the 45-year-old Dutch coach receiving a work permit.

Slot will join Liverpool from Feyenoord in the Netherlands.

He will replace Jurgen Klopp who stepped down from the role on Sunday following their 2-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield.

Slot will have a big pair of shoes to fill, however, the German tactician, has left the club in a very strong position and the new manager will have very little to do in terms of building a squad.

It remains to be seen how slot will add his own taste as he has inherited a squad and youth structures that Klopp has put in place. But, his first job will be to build a technical team as numerous coach also enjoyed their final act at Liverpool on Sunday.

Speaking of his move to Merseyside, Slot, said it was difficult to ignore an opportunity to coach a team like Liverpool.

“It is certainly not an easy decision to close the door behind you at a club where you have experienced so many wonderful moments and worked successfully with so many wonderful people,” said Slot on Feyenoord’s website.

“But as a sportsman, an opportunity to become a head coach in the Premier League, at one of the biggest clubs in the world, is difficult to ignore.”

Slot will head to Anfield with a fine pedigree after three highly successful seasons with Feyenoord, during which he led them to the league title in 2023 and was named Eredivisie Manager of the Year on two occasions.

Liverpool will get their preseason for the 2024/25 season underway in July.
