AFCON 2025 entering business end of competition─── ILSE SMALBERGER 14:04 Tue, 13 Jan 2026
A repeat of the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations final beckons as 2021 champions Senegal take on seven-time winners Egypt, who are looking for a 10th final appearance.
The last-four clash will be played at the Grande Stade de Tangier on Wednesday (14/1). Senegal have played all of their games in Tangier, while Egypt played their first five matches in Agadir.
This is the sixth AFCON meeting between the sides, with each team winning two games in their previous five AFCON meetings. Three of their clashes took place in the group stages of 1986, 2000, and 2002, while their meeting at the 2006 tournament was in the semifinals.

Their last AFCON meeting was in the 2021 final, the only match between the nations to end in a draw, with Senegal winning their first title after prevailing on penalties following a 0-0 draw.
The teams first met at the AFCON in 1986, when Egypt, as hosts, were defeated 1-0 by Senegal in Cairo in their opening group match. The Pharaohs recovered to go on and win the title.
The match kicks off at 19:00.

In the other semi-final match taking place on Wednesday, Nigeria will be trying for a fourth AFCON title and will face hosts Morocco, searching for their first trophy win since 1976. The match will be played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, and kick-off is at 22:00.
Both teams are undefeated, with Nigeria winning all five of their games, while Morocco have recorded four wins and a draw. They meet at the Africa Cup of Nations for the sixth time, with all five previous AFCON meetings producing a winner.
This is their first meeting in 22 years at AFCON and the second time they face each other in an AFCON Semi-final. The runners-up in the semi-finals will meet on Saturday at 18:00 to determine the third-place finisher, while the winners will battle it out to become the Kings of Africa on Sunday at 21:00.
