The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ricardo Goss is hoping to continue his career at Siwelele FC after enjoying a stellar 2025/26 Premier Soccer League campaign with the newly rebranded club, which has firmly established Bloemfontein as one of its home bases.

It is expected that during the upcoming off-season, Siwelele will permanently relocate to Bloemfontein after receiving overwhelming support from football fans in the city. Last year, SuperSport United underwent a major transformation as the club rebranded and began its move to the Free State, with many of the former Matsatsantsa A Pitori players swapping their famous royal blue strip for Siwelele’s green and white colours. One of those players was Goss.

The talented shot-stopper is technically still on loan at the Bloemfontein-based outfit from Mamelodi Sundowns. However, at Sundowns he remains behind Bafana captain Ronwen Williams and Uganda international Denis Onyango in the pecking order.

Goss admitted that he sees his future at Siwelele, where he has enjoyed regular game time and has quickly become a fan favourite.

“I feel like every footballer wants to be on that pitch, you know, and you want to be the number one of the team and keep playing week in, week out, and then set goals for yourself for the season,” said Goss.

“I think I'm enjoying it... like I said, I feel loved.

“It’s a family, and even when the CEO was still here, they really, really welcomed me well, and the new CEO as well. But yeah, I’m happy to be here.”

Goss is set to return to Sundowns at the end of his loan spell, although he made it clear that he would prefer to remain in Bloemfontein. Ultimately, the decision rests with the Pretoria giants.

“Obviously, after the season ends, and after the second year of the loan ends, then I have to go back and report to Sundowns. My management, they’re the ones who partake in the talks of what’s going to happen, where I’m going to go.

“Sundowns is the one that has most of the say. I can only suggest what I want and where I want to be, and how much game time I want, and it depends on what they say.

“But I don’t want to comment too much on it because there are still talks going on, and that’s all I can say.”

Goss also acknowledged the enormous challenge of competing with Williams, widely regarded as South Africa’s number one goalkeeper and one of the continent’s elite shot-stoppers following his remarkable rise over the past few seasons.

“Obviously, like I say, I enjoy playing - I’m a goalkeeper that wants to play, and obviously it’s going to be very tough and stiff with Ronwen playing, because he’s also been doing a lot at Sundowns.

“They don’t really change a lot in the goalkeeping department, so it becomes a bit of a challenge.”

For now, Goss still has one more assignment in Siwelele colours before attention turns to his future. On Saturday at 15:00, Siwelele will wrap up their season against Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Thereafter, focus is expected to shift to international duty, with Goss tipped to be included in the Bafana squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
