Lenmed expands emergency care in Klerksdorp

Lenmed expands emergency care in Klerksdorp Venue: Ametis St &, Marmer St, Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp

The newly renovated and expanded Emergency Department at Lenmed Wilmed Park Hospital and Heart Centre is now officially open, strengthening access to quality emergency and specialised cardiac care for communities across the North-West Province and surrounding areas.

The 24-hour Emergency Department is equipped to care for both adult and paediatric patients and has been designed to better manage general emergencies, acute heart attacks, and strokes with rapid-response treatment capabilities.

The upgraded facility is now officially “stroke-ready”, meaning the unit follows a specialised accreditation programme and treatment protocols to provide immediate care to stroke patients within the critical “golden hour” – the first hour after a serious medical emergency – helping improve survival and recovery outcomes while reducing the risk of permanent brain damage.

The hospital’s Heart Centre, which officially opened in October 2025, has already expanded access to highly specialised cardiac and vascular care in the region. New services now include vascular surgery, structural heart interventions, and advanced electrophysiology treatments for heart rhythm conditions.

By expanding specialist capabilities, the hospital continues to:

  • Improve access to highly specialised healthcare
  • Reduce the need for patients to travel to major metropolitan centres
  • Enhance continuity of care within the local healthcare ecosystem.

Save this number: The Klerksdorp community and surrounding areas will soon have access to a dedicated emergency response vehicle service via 0861 911 001.
