Mangaung municipal rates exemptions

───   SABRINA SABRINA 06:50 Tue, 30 Apr 2013

Sabrina Dean -

Mangaung residents who want exemption from municipal rates highlighted by Mayor Thabo Manyoni in his budget last month must apply for the exemptions. Senior citizens aged 60 or older qualify for exemption from municipal rates on the first R250 000 of their property value. However they must complete an application form available at municipal offices. The Metro confirmed that this exemption is applicable to anyone aged 60 or older, but said the exemption only counts for one property. Further information is available at municipal offices or by calling 051-405-8331. That information is on the news page at ofm.co.za. The Municipal Valuation Roll is used to calculate rates and taxes payable by residents. The new rates will be implemented on 1 July. Objections over the value assigned to properties can be lodged at any municipal pay point until today.
