Swellendam - A colleague of Bredasdorp rape and murder accused Johannes Kana has testified that he and victim Anene Booysen left a pub together at around 2am on the night of the attack.
Witness Riaan Scheepers was testifying in the Swellendam Circuit Court yesterday, when the trial officially started.
The 17-year-old Booysen died after she was raped, mutilated and left for dead at a construction site in February.
According to Scheepers, she and Kana were part of a group of friends drinking at the pub on the night she was attacked.
Another two witnesses also took to the stand yesterday. The security guard and police officer, who were the first people to see Booysen shortly after the attack, gave details of her condition.
Kana has admitted to raping Booysen, but denies killing her.
The case resumes today.
