FS/NC Correctional Services' regional commissioner welcomes Lamola as minister | News Article

The Free State and Northern Cape regional commissioner for the Department of Correctional Services, Subashini Moodley, has also joined the fray of those who have been congratulating the newly appointed Justice Minister, Ronald Lamola.

Moodley says she took the time to read Lamola's profile and she was utterly impressed by what she has read about him thus far. She says she hopes that the newly appointed minister will bring vibrancy to the department. The young and former African National Congress Youth League leader (ANCYL) takes over from Michael Masutha as the minister of the department. He is amongst the youngest ministers in the sixth democratic administration appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Moodley says they are extremely grateful to president Ramaphosa for appointing Lamola as the minister.

Moodley spoke on the sidelines of an event held by the department at the Grootvlei Prison in Bloemfontein to honour and recognise nurses working in the department across these two provinces. She delivered a moving tribute to at least 110 departmental nurses for their dedication and hard work. She said through this difficult and challenging times nurses stood their test and excelled in making sure that they deliver better and quality services to the inmates in various hospitals across the two provinces. These issues include harassment, safety and security threats against them mostly perpetrated by the inmate. She also took a moment to highlight what she thinks are some of the challenges faced by nurses in these facilities.
