#Elections2019: Analyst makes predictions | News Article

Political analyst at the University of the Free State, Dr Sethulego Matebesi shares his predictions for how he believes the country’s top political parties will fare against each other during the muchanticipated general elections next week Wednesday.

Speaking to OFM News, Matebesi said although he believes the ANC will definitely win the Free State, which is a stronghold area for the party, he believes the ruling party will lose a slight share of its supports but will maintain its dominance in areas such as Mangaung.

Meanwhile, Matebesi believes newcomer, Patricia de Lille's GOOD party, may take some support from parties such as the DA and the EFF that have - over the last few years - made a name for themselves in the Northern Cape's communities. Again, he maintains that he believes the ANC in the province, led by Zamani Saul, will maintain its dominance as the ruling party.

In the North West, Matebesi predicted that the party may shed a slight number of its supporters owing to the deep divisions between factions in the province. He said while he does not foresee ardent ANC voters turning away by voting for another party, he predicts that many may simply stay away from the polls, deciding not to vote altogether.
